This site lists know issues with other mods. It is not complete and never will be.

The eye in the storm of modding never blinks. The machine gods only smile on the worthy.

General incompatibility[]

General issues with SoS 2 that require workarounds or patches.
issue description
Mods that alter ship functionality Any mod that changes Vanilla ship parts or ship part behavior will not work with SoS 2! Remove them.
Any storyteller forcing Raids at Player Home Will cause raiders without EVA gear to arrive on the space map, dying and breaking balance and immersion.
Any custom storyteller based on Randy Usually has no problem after extensive testing, but unique storytellers may force unexpected events SOS can't control or account for.
A small note on RimThreaded Some methods in SoS2 require so much computational time that threads will abort due to anti-deadlock time constraints. You can set those time constraints on the RT configuration. It is strongly suggested to set thread abort time to 60000ms (60 seconds) before going to space. Except for that RT 2.3.9 and above is compatible with SoS2. If you encounter any errors while using RT and SoS2 that isn't fixed by setting the thread time to 60 seconds contact Sernior in RT discord or Radian Helix Media discord.

Mods with unknown compatibility[]

Add mods here that might have compatibility issues but are not sure of the severity.
name description
Dubs Performance Analyzer Will cause all buttons to be off by one gizmo (launch will be select all in group.) Turn off Optimize DrawInspectGizmoGrid in the mod settings to fix this. Supposedly this has been fixed in an update, along with the phantom performance loss.
Remote Tech Pathfinding to avoid sparkweed zones interferes with pathfinding to avoid vacuum. Unknown severity, only a couple reports.

Incompatible mods[]

These mods alter base game functionality and directly conflict with SoS 2 features. DO NOT ASK FOR SUPPORT WHILE USING THESE MODS!
name description
Biomes! Islands Causes pathfinding glitch where pawns will remain "Standing" on food or other tasks and refuse to navigate. Save your game. Delete Biomes! Islands (the other biomes core and sub-mods are fine). Now load your game, and make sure your ground colony is working. If not, save again, reboot the entire game from the desktop, and continue.

If you read this and it solved your issue, definitely refer the bottom of this page, because you RTFM, which makes you an upstanding citizen and a true hero.

Combat Extended Older versions conflicted with ship Torpedo launchers -- "no torpedoes found" is the bug. Recently fixed in a CE Update.
Minify everything Conflicts with Salvaging, Disable ship parts in Mod Settings (besides shuttles).
Glass and Lights Glass Roofs and Ceiling Lamps cause failure to launch.
Multiplayer Obviously this would require extensive work. Will not be done by SoS Team.
Gunplay Conflicts with ship weapons. Causes an endless stream of projectiles. Allegedly, you can turn off "bullet trails" in Mod Settings to fix this issue as well. Otherwise, just remove gunplay.
ZLevels Zlevels does not cause any crashing or problems until you use it on a ship. Then it generates terrain "under" the ship impervious to damage.
Camera + Render Texture (used to save the planet background to a static image low on performance) can only save the player's native resolution. This causes Camera+ to reveal the place where these images tile, showing multiple planets.
Prepare Landing Causes World Gen to Fail.
Antimatter Annihilation Causes pathfinding to break or simply not work. "Custom pathfinding" needs to be disabled in order to work properly with SOS2.
EdB Prepare Carefully Causes the pawns to break becoming unselectable, and trying to select them via the character bar will show you the world generated instead.
Giddy Up! Caravans Caravan animals with riders won't join the caravan, causing caravans to never leave the map or all animals (and supplies on animals) to be lost if the caravan is formed on a non-player map. Be sure to not assign riders if you use Giddy Up! Caravans. Note that this is unverifiable, and likely due to mod conflicts other than SOS2 and Giddyup, such as old out of date versions, versions found not on the Steam workshop, or other conflicts.

Mods with partial compatibility[]

These mods add features that might not work with SoS 2 but will otherwise not interfere with SoS 2 functionality.
name description
SRTS SRTS can be used to reach space, however some planets will not allow the transports to land on ships in orbit. This is due to the fact that the orbiting ship uses world tile 1 as its "true" location by default, and if that tile happens to be a body of water or otherwise impassible terrain SRTS ships will treat the ship site as invalid. To fix this issue simply edit the ship tile so the orbiting ship uses a different, valid tile in your save file.

A work around is posted here.

Pocket Dimension Some screen flickering and log spam occurs when moving the camera around on a pocket dimension map contained inside a space map. Seems to be harmless.
Designator Shapes Hull corners can only be rotated using the line and circle/ellipse designator shapes.
RimHud RimHUD, when a letter pops up it hides the heat, energy, and range finder. Disable Compress Notifications to fix.
Rim-Effect: Themis Traders Overwrites how traders work, replacing all trader events with the arrival of a trading shuttle. Makes trading difficult and stops SOS2 Trade Ship encounters from spawning. Disable the "Disable orbital traders" option to fix.

Supported mods[]

These mods have integrated support built into SoS 2.
name description
Rimefeller Can refuel engines by connecting them to Rimefeller buildings.
Dubs Bad Hygine A toggleable setting in the DBH Mod Settings can be switched on, letting the powered hull and life support carry and refresh water. (does populate space with water on the overlay but it can be ignored outside that menu.)
Android Tiers Androids do not require air to breathe. They are susceptible to freezing, however, but upgrades are available to avoid this in an immersive way.
Empire Ships can now be set as empire capital, and planets can be left behind and revisited to spread your empire to the stars. Thanks to Saakra for the hard work! As of v.0.340
Advanced Doors Adds additional airlocks with more healthpoints if installed alongside SOS2

The True Bugs Are Within Us![]

As a consequence of modding inherently being witchcraft known only to the few brave enough to read the runes, we get a daily barrage of user feedback telling us all the things people have found wrong with SOS. Getting a note about how the FAQ/Wikia helped, is rare.

If you have solved your own problem because of this text or any other, type in the comments:

PRAISE BE THE BLUE SMOKE! THE THUNDER HAS ENLIGHTENED ME!

And your brothers will respond by a song of percussion on the metal sides of their old machines, hollering in praise of the Blue Smoke which animates all electric things.

When the fools asks what it means, tell them to look to the sacred texts of the ones who came before, and offer sacrifices of our minds' dedication to the Blue Smoke. The Blue Smoke which animates the machine, and gives life to the screen. The Blue Smoke which saves us, and keeps our files in order.

If they do not understand these words, send them here so the witches may pray over them and show them the way.

If they refuse to learn the songs and perform the sacrifice of turmoil and strife, rend their clothes, gnash their teeth, and sing lamentations to the Blue Smoke which has abandoned them.
